The Association for Talent Development defines talent development as "...building the knowledge, skills, and abilities of others and helping them develop and achieve their potential so that the organizations they work for can succeed and grow". This term moves beyond training as we know it and includes all of the activities that can be used to transform a person at work and beyond.
Development can take place in a planned or unplanned way, and there are a number of options beyond training and development that organizations use. People learn in different ways and through different methods, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to learning.
